The Woodstock Foundation
The Woodstock Foundation fosters the physical, cultural, and spiritual well-being of the people of Woodstock, Vermont and the Ottauquechee River Valley through land stewardship, celebration of heritage, education, recreation, and community engagement.
Preserving Heritage, Nurturing Community
The Woodstock Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution, established in 1968 by Laurance and Mary Rockefeller to preserve and enhance the unique character of Woodstock, Vermont, and the surrounding Ottauquechee River Valley. Rooted in the Rockefellers’ deep commitment to conservation, sustainable land use, and community well-being, the Foundation was created to ensure that the region’s natural beauty, working landscapes, and cultural heritage would endure for generations to come.
Today, the Foundation continues that legacy through its stewardship of the Billings Farm & Museum, the Woodstock Inn & Resort, and its partnership with the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. Through these institutions, the Woodstock Foundation promotes education, heritage preservation, and environmental responsibility, which in turn strengthens the cultural and spiritual vitality of Woodstock and its surrounding communities.
